The 2024-2025 High School Sports Campaign is just three days away from teeing off, but before we move into the Fall season of sports, we like to take a moment and do the 2023-2024 Year in Review for the Wolverines!

FALL

Fall sports featured three teams that made the WPIAL playoffs - Cross Country, Football, and Girls Volleyball. Cross Country went undefeated in section play (10-0) while finishing 3rd at WPIAL Championships and 7th overall at the PIAA Finals. Football broke through for the first trip in 13 years to playoffs, ultimately falling to a tough #3 Washington team. Girls Volleyball made a splash by almost pulling off one of the bigger upsets in the first round by going up 1-0 on Avonworth, but could not prevail in the end. The Boys Golf team also just missed section playoffs, turnining in a decent 8-5 record, just missing playoffs by one match.

Fall sports teams totaled a 39-35 (31-19) record while going 1-2 in playoff matches.

WINTER

Winter sports saw both basketball teams making the WPIAL Playoffs, while wrestling finished the season with a competive 8-9 record on the year. Girls Basketball finished 15-7 in the regular season, setting up a first round matchup as the #10 seed against OLSH. The Lady Wolverines played well in the second half to give OLSH a run, but came up short 46-41 in the first round. Meanwhile, Boys Basketball made another historical run in the WPIAL and PIAA playoffs, led by Senior Joseph Roth. The Wolverines almost pulled off one of the bigger upsets in the WPIAL season, almost dethroning the reigning champs Deer Lakes 39-38. With the new state qualifying process, the Wolverines were able to get into the state playoffs by defeating Yough in a consolation game. The Wolverines then had a stint in the state playoffs, ultimately losing to section foe Mohawk 55-50.

Winter sports teams combined for a 41-27 (18-10) record while going 3-4 in playoff matches.

SPRING

Spring sports featured winning records by Baseball, Softball, and the dominant Track & Field team. The baseball just missed playoffs as they dropped a tough section series battle against Shenango in the winner-makes-playoffs game. Meanwhile, Softball made another run in playoffs, this time defeating Burrell 4-2 in a defensive battle. The defensive and pitching carried over to round two, but this time the Lady Wolverines fell short losing to Ligonier Valley in an epic 1-0 pitching duel game. Track & Field picked up where Cross Country left off in the fall, dominanting their section finishing in second place with a record of 11-3. The Wolverines Boys team finished in 1st place at WPIAL Playoffs, pulling off a big upset to move onto the team finals, where they eventually finished 3rd place. The Track & Field team saw several school records broken on the year, while many of the athletes continued to break personal records as well. Boys Tennis had a tough go against primarily a Beaver-County schedule, that included reigning WPIAL champions and runner-ups.

Spring sports finished the school year off with a combined 36-22 (18-17) record while going 2-2 in playoff matches.
