EC’s Custer competes at States

The last event of the Fall Sports season belonged to the Cross Country team, specifically to one individual - Bradley Custer.

Custer was the sole participant for Ellwood City at PIAA Cross Country State Championships this past weekend where he competed against a total of 750 individuals at Hershey Park.

Hershey Park course is known primarily for the crazy elevation changes and hill climbs, even those right off the starting gate. The course also has your typical “funnel” starting line, that usually has the competitors “battling” for the holeshot at the beginning of the course. Maintaining pace throughout the event is very critical.

Bradley Custer finished 102ND at the 2.5K mark, 112TH at the 5K mark, and 514TH overall during the weekend with a final time of 19:27.9. With that being said, Custer now knows the course for states and will look to build upon his success this year for next year’s competition!

Congrats to Bradley Custer and Coach Nate Brown on the successful season for the Wolverines!
