4 match winning streak has golf moving up

The Wolverines golfing drought has come to an end. After losing 4 of the past 5 matches, the Wolverines are now on a 4 match win streak to have the local fans back talking about playoffs.

The Wolverines last week defeated the Mohawk Warriors in by far the biggest upset on the year by Ellwood City with a score of 214-218. The victory came eight days after the Wolverines were victorious against the Union Scotties 221-232 to break the losing ways.

The winning ways continued this week as the Wolverines defeated the Riv-Ell Cup rival Riverside Panthers at Connoquenessing Country Club, 223-234. Now the Wolverines pick up their fourth straight victory in that span, coming back to defeat the Shenango Wildcats by 4 strokes 225-229.

Leading the charge all season long as has been Freshmen phenom Jordan Keller for the Wolverines, averaging a match stroke mark of just over 43. In the meantime, youth continues to play a big factor in the Wolverines success as Juniors and Sophomores are helping the team prove worthy of possible playoffs.

The Wolverines are now officially 7-4 (6-4) on the season with just two section matches left - Tuesday at Neshannock and Thursday back home for the final match against Laurel. If the Wolverines find a way to pull the upset in both matches, they will return back to playoffs once again.

ECS will have results on Tuesday along with media coverage in the final section match play on Thursday. The Wolverines also have Section qualifiers / WPIALS for boys on Monday while having WPIAL qualifiers on Friday for Girls.
