Wolverines prevail in set 5, defeat Warriors

The Lady Wolverines traveled Thursday night to Mohawk for a big section matchup against the Warriors and prevailed 3-2.

The Wolverines so far this season have relied on their stellar serving point percentage so far. That trend continued…eventually…on the evening as the Wolverines found ways to battle back after dropping 5 service points in set one to the Warriors.

Now in their 4th match, the Wolverines faced their first deficit in terms of sets, finding themselves down 1-0 after the 25-22 set lost to Mohawk. The Wolverines quickly bounced back off of the serving points by the Sturgeons - Elsie and Delaney - in set 2 and 3, winning 25-16 and 25-13 respectively.

Just as the Wolverines looked to close out the match in set 4, two three-point streaks by the Warriors allowed Mohawk to pick up the set victory 25-23, pushing the Wolverines to the limit - a sudden death 5th set on the night.

The Wolverines started out slow in the fifth set, trailing 2-0, but finished the set outscoring the Warriors 17-13, to pick up the17-15, 2 point victory and the overall match 3 sets to 2.

The Wolverines improve to 4-0 (2-0) on the season and will look towards next Tuesday (09/13) for their next match on the season where they will play host to the Neshannock Lancers and then follow up with a BIG matchup at Shenango on Thursday (09/15) before heading to the small school MAC Tournament over the weekend.
