CC posts three medalists while finishing 3rd

Cross Country competed at the annual Tri-County Championships held at Shenango High School on Saturday and did not disappoint. The Wolverines had three medalists on the day - Bradley Custer, Drew Steffler, and Ian Stoneking while posting a solid 3rd place finish.

JUNIOR HIGH

The Wolverines were led by Dante Venezie who finished second place overall in the event while Jacoby McKinney finished 15th. Both individuals medaled on the day. Reese Edwards was not far behind as he had a great finish at the event even while sustaining an injury during the run.

GIRLS

The lone representative for the Wolverines on the girls side at the event was Avalise Custer who posted a personal record on the course that tends to be very fast as the course is flat, fast, and a pure grassy 5k run.

VARSITY

Almost every individual posted a personal record at the event and course (that was also ran during the third week of tri-meets). Bradley Custer, Drew Steffler, and Ian Stoneking all medaled on the day. The Wolverines were also the only team that scored 7 athletes, compared to just 5 being required to compete for a team score. Ellwood City took 3rd place overall in a section that has been by far the best we have seen in years.

Taking first place was Laurel posting a team score of 53 while Mohawk just finished ahead of the Wolverines with a 58 compared to 60 for EC. The Wolverines have one more event on the season which is set for October 27th (next Thursday) as the Wolverines will compete at the WPIAL Championships (CALU - Roadman Park).

Congrats on the season and good luck to those competing next Thursday!
