EC Fall Ball provides spark in baseball program
EC Baseball officially completed their Fall Ball programs last week, earning playoff appearances by both teams - varsity and junior varsity - with both teams just coming up short of titles.
The Varsity program finished with 14 total games, 10-4, just missing the championship game by a one run tiebreaker.
The Junior Varsity program finished with 16 total games, 13-3, while reaching the championship game. Unfortunately, the Wolverines fell 12-8 to the Blackhawk Cougars for the title.
Between the two teams, the Wolverines composed a 23-7 record while hosting 36 prospect players during the event, while having 6 “ALL IN” assistant coaches working during the games and season. Together, 42 members acted as ONE family of baseball for Ellwood City.
Leading the charge for the Wolverines was the likes of Nick Magnifico, Will Nardone, and Isaiah Lutz.
Head Coach Chris Weisz would like to thank Brad Welsh, Rich Ryan, Gino Ceriani, Joe Nardone, and Bill Baker on helping the program during their run this season.
The Fall program this year has helped propel Ellwood City’s upcoming season that includes a big battle at the 3A level, including Riverside, Mohawk, Shenango, Beaver Falls, Neshannock, and Quaker Valley. The section includes 7 total teams that made a playoff run last year (including the Wolverines).
The Wolverine baseball program also has big events going forward, as they will make a trip down to Florida in late March to start the Spring season during the year. As we look towards the Spring season for baseball, conditioning is up next for the Wolverines as Winter sports is just around the corner, giving the baseball team opportunities to hit the weight room. Good luck to the baseball program in the upcoming season!
