EC Girls Tennis lose to Cougars 4-1

One of the toughest Fall Sports classifications got under way Wednesday afternoon as Ellwood City traveled to Blackhawk to take on the Cougars during the first week of Girls Tennis match play.

The Wolverines started right out of the gate against a tough Beaver County opponent in the Cougars and unfortunately came out on the wrong end of things 4-1.

Leading the way for Ellwood City was Senior Maddy McCommons who won her match in convincing fashion, 6-2, 6-1 and earned the lone point for the Wolverines.

Kailyn Hamilton battled strong for Ellwood forcing three sets and just coming up short of earning EC another point.

#1 Doubles Tessa Folino and Lacey Kennedy battled tough as well winning the first set 6-4, but ended up dropping the next two sets 1-6 each.

The Wolverines start the season 0-1 (0-0), but will quickly slide into conference play against Beaver as Tuesday’s game was moved to Thursday.

The match is slated for 3:30 PM vs. Beaver at Ewing Park Courts. ECS will have results and some photos from the match.
