CC splits meet, now 3-1 on the season
The Wolverines Cross Country team has had great success the past couple of years, as they have won back-to-back section championships while going on a 22 match winning streak until Tuesday of this week. Unfortunately, the win mark stops at 23.
The Wolverines traveled to Freedom on Tuesday for a tri-meet including the Freedom Bulldogs and Laurel Spartans. Freedom unfortunately did not have enough athletes to compete, so the automatic victory was awarded to the Wolverines. On the flip side though, the Laurel Spartans across the board set personal records on the day as they defeated the Wolverines 26-29 officially.
With the split, Ellwood City sits now 3-1 on the season. Although the win streak ends at 23, the Wolverines still have an opportunity at the section and will now move on to next week where they will travel to Shenango to take on the Wildcats and the Beaver Falls Tigers in another Tri-meet on Tuesday (3:30 PM).
